An adaptive re-use project on the Walt Disney Studios Lot. A complete replacement of all building systems and interiors to transform an office complex into a state of the art Digital Post Production facility.
Planned around exterior courtyard spaces, the privacy and security of the filmmakers and their content was balanced with a sense of communal workplace and all-hands gathering spaces. Critical workspaces were layered deeply into the planning, reached only after circulating through less secure intervening spaces.
A digital screening room was incorporated into the facility by removing the building slab and excavating in order to achieve sight lines and screen height. The editorial rooms were designed to provide complete flexibility, with the ability to be configured for either picture or sound editing.
Using a material and color palate implying a residential look and feel, richly textured and comfortable finishes were designed for the long term comfort of the filmmakers.
