This high-end, private facility on director James Cameron’s Malibu compound was designed as a multi-functional technical space, equipped for both standard and 3D screening, editing, and pre-dubbing.  Located at a former residence used for production company offices, this small addition was designed with a fully-isolated interior shell.  Acoustic treatments were concealed by aluminum-trimmed fabric wall panels accented by a darker Corian wainscot.
Wide, stepped platforms were designed to allow unobstructed sight lines from the projection booth and all seats within the room.  The custom editing console included monitors mounted on articulating arms, easily lowered to provide editors with a clear view of the front screen.  Designed for quick disassembly, the edit console could be easily replaced with sectional sofa components to create a screening room.  THX and Dolby certified, the facility was designed to be capable of both 35mm and digital film projection.  A fully-adjustable theatrical masking system enabled accommodation of different screen aspect ratios.
